Samples for OEM and Private Label Projects
Fibrena Underwear develops men’s underwear samples for brands, importers, wholesalers, retail chains and e-commerce buyers preparing OEM or private label orders. Sampling converts product ideas and reference materials into a physical standard that can be reviewed before bulk production.
A project can begin with a tech pack, size chart, reference garment, product photo or one of our existing boxer briefs, trunks, briefs or boxer shorts. The required sample type depends on whether the buyer needs a readily available product, adjustments to an existing style or a new specification involving custom fabric, fit, waistband, labels and packaging.
The approved sample does not replace written specifications. It should be used together with the confirmed material details, measurement chart, artwork and packing requirements.
Information Required Before Sampling
A complete product brief helps reduce unnecessary revisions and makes the sample more useful for production evaluation. Buyers should provide:
- Underwear style and reference photos
- Tech pack or physical reference sample
- Fabric composition and GSM
- Required stretch, recovery and hand feel
- Size chart and grading requirements
- Color or Pantone reference
- Waistband width and Logo artwork
- Main, care and size label details
- Packaging format
- Estimated bulk order quantity
If some details are unavailable, we can review feasible directions before sampling. However, terms such as “soft fabric,” “standard fit” or “premium packaging” should be converted into measurable specifications or physical references before approval.
Projects involving a buyer-specific fit can be coordinated through our Custom Size & Fit Development process.
Stock and Custom Sample Options
Stock samples usually require around 3–5 days when the requested style, material and size are available. They are mainly used to review general workmanship, fabric hand feel or an existing construction. A stock sample may not represent the final color, Logo, waistband or packaging.
Custom samples generally require around 7–15 days. Timing depends on fabric sourcing, pattern adjustment, custom colors, waistband artwork, printing, labels and product construction. A new waistband, unavailable fabric or special packaging may require a separate preparation schedule.
Sample costs are evaluated by project. Material sourcing, pattern changes, custom trims and branded packaging can affect the cost, so the final sample fee should be confirmed after the complete requirements have been reviewed.
Sample Review and Revision
The buyer should evaluate each sample against the submitted specification rather than only checking its general appearance. Review points normally include:
- Fabric composition, weight and hand feel
- Color and opacity
- Waist, hip, rise and leg opening measurements
- Fit and size grading
- Pouch and seam construction
- Waistband width, elasticity and Logo direction
- Stitching and general workmanship
- Label position and content
- Folding and packaging presentation
Comments should identify the measurement, material or construction point that requires adjustment. Marked photos, updated measurement charts and consolidated comments are more effective than separate messages containing general feedback.
Details concerning custom waistbands and other branding elements can be reviewed on our Custom Logo & Branding page.
Pre-Production Approval
Before bulk production, the buyer should confirm the final sample together with the production specification. Approval should cover:
- Product style and construction
- Fabric and color
- Size chart and measurement tolerance
- Waistband and Logo
- Labels and barcodes
- Folding and packaging
- Quantity, size and color breakdown
Packaging components may be approved separately if printed bags, paper packs or retail boxes require additional preparation. Our Custom Packaging Solutions page explains the information required for packaging confirmation.
From Approved Sample to Bulk Production
After sample approval and deposit confirmation, standard bulk orders usually require around 25–35 days. More complex private label programs may require around 35–45 days depending on material availability, construction, branding and packaging.
The approved sample and confirmed documents are used as references for material preparation, cutting, sewing, waistband application, inspection and packing. Bulk checks cover measurements, stitching, appearance, waistband and label details, color and packaging. Buyer-nominated third-party inspection or testing can be coordinated when required.
Standard styles usually start from 500–1,000 pieces per color and style. Private label projects generally start from 1,000–3,000 pieces. Final MOQ is confirmed after the sample requirements, materials, branding and packaging have been reviewed.
