Develop Sizing for the Intended Market
Fibrena Underwear develops men’s boxer briefs, trunks and briefs around the buyer’s target market, product construction and selected fabric. A project can begin from a complete size chart, physical reference garment, tech pack or an existing style that requires fit adjustment.
We do not treat a printed size label as the size specification. The actual garment fit depends on the pattern, finished measurements, fabric stretch, waistband elasticity, pouch construction, rise and leg opening.
Before pattern work begins, buyers should confirm the intended customer group, required size range and preferred fit, such as close-fitting, regular, supportive or extended-leg.
Size Chart and Measurement Review
A buyer-provided size chart should identify the garment measurement points and whether measurements are taken relaxed, stretched or around the full circumference. Common control points include:
- Relaxed and stretched waist
- Hip width or circumference
- Front rise and back rise
- Side length or outseam
- Leg opening
- Inseam
- Pouch width and depth
We review the size chart against the reference style and fabric. Missing or conflicting measurements are clarified before the pattern and prototype sample are prepared.
Fabric Stretch and Pattern Adjustment
The same pattern will not produce the same fit in every material. Cotton/spandex, modal blends, bamboo-derived regenerated cellulose blends and lightweight synthetic fabrics can differ in stretch, recovery, drape and shrinkage.
A softer or more elastic fabric may require pattern reduction to maintain support. A firmer fabric may require additional room at the hip, pouch or leg opening. Waistband elasticity must also be considered because it affects both the relaxed waist measurement and wearing pressure.
Material specifications should therefore be approved through custom fabric and material selection before final fit confirmation.
Pattern Making and Size Grading
The base-size pattern is developed or adjusted from the confirmed measurements and reference construction. Front, back, pouch, gusset and leg panels are checked as separate pattern components before cutting.
After the base size is reviewed, grading rules are applied to develop the remaining sizes. Grading is not simply the same increase at every point. Waist, hip, rise, pouch and leg opening may require different increments to maintain the intended proportion across the size range.

Prototype Measurement and Fit Revision
The first sample is measured against the submitted size chart. Buyers should review the sample for waist tension, hip room, rise, pouch shape, leg opening and leg length. Fit comments should be clear and measurable whenever possible.
For example, “increase the front rise by 1 cm” or “reduce the relaxed leg opening by 0.5 cm” is more actionable than describing the garment only as loose or tight.
Approved Size Set and Bulk Control
Custom samples normally require approximately 7–15 days, depending on fabric availability, pattern work and construction. A major change to the fabric, base pattern or size range may require another sample before approval.
The approved sample, measurement chart, tolerance and grading rules become the references for bulk production. During production, measurement checks are performed on selected pieces to identify size variation before packing.
